Hello! My name is Drew Zaitsoff, and I am the Associate Director for Training here at Â鶹´«Ã½ CAPS. I started at Â鶹´«Ã½ in Fall 2024, and prior to coming here I was a staff psychologist at Purdue University for seven years. I completed my undergrad degree at Penn State University and my master’s and PhD at Indiana University; at this point I think I’ve been affiliated with the most Big Ten schools of anyone on staff!
In working with therapy clients, I operate from the assumption that the clients are the experts in their own lives, even while I’m there to help them decide what to do with that expertise. I typically use interpersonal therapy integrated with CBT and ACT interventions. In addition to the normal concerns that come up for students in a university setting, I also have expertise in grad student issues and trauma work.
As training director, I’m responsible for making sure that our trainees receive the experiences they will need to prepare them for their future professional lives. Our internship (and any internship, honestly) is a large commitment, and I want to respect the sacrifice interns make in uprooting their lives to come here by making the internship year as smooth as possible.
The greatest perk on this campus for me is having the lake five minutes from our office, and I make sure to go take a walk on the beach or the lakefill at least once a week!
