Synopsis:
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the rapidly evolving landscape of global carbon markets and their role in achieving net-zero goals. It explores regulatory frameworks, pricing mechanisms, and market structures for compliance and voluntary systems; the Article 6 framework under the Paris Agreement; and the carbon credit value chain, integrity criteria, and emerging technologies like blockchain and tokenization.
Course Objectives: You’ll learn how policy, finance, and technology intersect in carbon markets. By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Explain the evolution and design of carbon credit systems;
- Compare compliance and voluntary markets globally;
- Evaluate integrity criteria and assess credibility of offset projects;
- Analyze the role of carbon credits in corporate decarbonization and the energy transition process; and
- Apply these tools to sustainability challenges
